Supreme Court to Hear Petitions Against Police Crackdown on Student Protesters After CJI Surya Kant Said He does not have time

Confusion arose with reports from the Supreme Court denying the police of using force over protesters While confusion over a petition seeking judicial intervention into Police actions against protesters led to sensationalism from few News outlets claiming SC’s denial to an urgent plea on the matter, The SC addressed the same and clarified that no formal plea was put before it when asked to hear. The said issue erupted from a heated exchange in Supreme Court, where a lawyer sought to raise allegations of Police excesses during a recently concluded student protest. The same was vehemently objected by a rival counsel whereas the Judge was looking to move ahead with another issue when such attempts were made.

The Chief Justice Surya Kant was looking to be very vexed over the attempt atOral Merging during which He asked that matter needs to have Official filing before it is heard by court of Justice for intervention into matter whereas the lawyer could not furnish a file to prove any filing done for the matter.

CJI Surya kant expressed to press-man that it has come to the notice of Supreme court that few newspaper are using distorted reports. It said that no plea was filed yet regarding issue but the lawyer had just presented a written letter/ representation of such matter and that too have not been accepted as a plea nor a copy given to opposition . Thus they cannot make up reports, the supreme Court clarified with stating that this is illegal the practice which will deter all from going before the supreme court with informal letters. The above court event occurred following a Violent march towards Parliament , Thousands participated into such movement and demands of reform regarding alleged lapses and irregularities into the testing agencies responsible for conducting examinations.

The police forces dispersed protesters as they broke security barricades while, multiple persons and police personnel reportedly sustained injures .

Legal Activists and Groups after this went before the higher courts , asking the court for adequate legal proceedings regarding issues on Police Brutality. Legal avenues for the same include writing an formal petition with required particulars such of proof, witness etc.. That would be later looked into.

The above mentioned is a story where- Media exaggerated an initial proceeding wherein no official pleas were filed whereas the issue has to do something which needs an official process.
