Is the US-Iran war ending soon ? By Justice Katju

Iran US War

In a recent press conference US President Trump has said that the US-Iran war is almost complete, indicating that it will end soon, since, as he claims US forces have destroyed Iran’s leadership and its military assets, and that America would soon have achieved its objective ( of effecting a regime change, and installing a pro-US puppet regime

This claim has been rebuffed by Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khameini ( son of the former supreme leader Ayatollah Khameini who was slain in a US air attack ). In a chilling reply to Trump’s claim he said ” We will decide when the war ends ”

Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards ( IRGC ) has expressed a similar view

The eminent Prof Marandi of Tehran University has also said that Iran will not accept a ceasefire, and the war will continue, until Iran’s demand for a guarantee for its safety that it will not be attacked again is met ( it was attacked earlier in a 12 day war in June last year ). US and Israel are unlikely to give such a guarantee.

Despite President Trump’s claim that the war will end soon, in the article below I have given my reasons why the war will be long drawn, like the Vietnam war

https://indicanews.com/the-next-stage-in-the-u-s-iran-war

In the above article I have given 3 reasons why this war will continue. Even if President Trump wants to end the war he will not be allowed to do so by the US arms manufacturers, the real rulers of America, who thrive on war, as that generates more demand for arms, and thus increases their profits. Peace reduces the demand for weapons, and thus reduces their profits. Trump dare not disobey his masters, the arms manufacturers, in deeds, whatever he may say in words. Moreover, mid term US Congress elections are due in November this year, and so if Trump ends the war now, the popularity of the Republicans, which is already dwindling ( as opinion polls show ), will further plummet, as Trump will be called a fool by Americans for having started the war in the first place. Hence he must continue the war in the hope of achieving a decisive victory later.

Moreover, Iran has shown a resilience which few had expected, as it is striking back with  missiles and drone attacks on Israel, US bases in the middle east, the US Riyadh Embassy, the Saudi Aramco Refinery, etc.

Iran is getting aid from China and Russia, which are its allies, and are powerful nations

So in all likelihood this is going to be a long war
