National Article Writing Competition 2026 by CNLU Patna: Win ₹20,000 + Internship with Leading Law Firms

The theme of the competition is “Competition Law in a Changing Market Order.” The competition provides law students with an opportunity to critically examine emerging developments in Indian competition law, including digital markets, platform power, artificial intelligence, algorithmic coordination, dominance, labour market collusion, and public procurement.

Theme of the Competition

Competition law increasingly requires an understanding of both legal principles and economic concepts. Questions concerning market definition, dominance, mergers, cartelisation, and anti-competitive conduct often involve significant economic analysis alongside legal interpretation.

The competition seeks submissions that engage critically with the changing landscape of competition law in India. Participants may explore developments following the Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023, including settlements, deal-value thresholds, and global-turnover penalties.

The theme also provides scope for research into the regulation of digital markets and the question of whether certain digital markets require ex ante regulation.

Suggested Areas of Research

Participants can examine issues concerning digital markets and platform power, including the challenges posed by large technology platforms and their potential impact on competition.

Other areas include the shift towards effects-based analysis of dominance, competition concerns arising from artificial intelligence and algorithmic coordination, and the possibility of collusion in labour markets and public procurement.

Participants may also develop their own research questions within the broader theme of competition law in a changing market order, subject to the competition’s rules and requirements.

Prizes and Recognition

The competition offers cash prizes along with internship opportunities for the top three entries.

The First Prize carries a cash prize of ₹20,000 plus an internship. The Second Prize carries ₹15,000 plus an internship, while the Third Prize carries ₹10,000 plus an internship.

The top ten entries will receive a Certificate of Merit, while every valid submission will receive a Certificate of Participation.
