A courtroom clash followed by the transfer of the judge and city-wide strike. The transfer of the judge and city-wide strike followed a courtroom clash.
This weekend, at the Rohini Courts, things became very heated and intense, and one of the judges at the court, who was present, got into a big standoff with lawyers. It all began yesterday when District Judge-04 Rakesh Kumar-V was seen indulging in highly objectionable and unbecoming conduct towards a lawyer during court proceedings. The situation quickly turned sour, as the lawyer was in fact the President of the Rohini Court Bar Association.
Lawyers to call for a massive boycott.
The local legal community was not to be taken aback. Emergency meeting was held by the Co-ordination Committee of All District Courts Bar Associations of Delhi today on Sunday, May 17, 2026. They released a circular of their deep resentment and serious concern on the judge’s behavior. They asked for the immediate transfer of the Judge Rakesh Kumar-V, his work as a judge be removed, and a formal enquiry to be held. The committee called for a big strike to support its demands. They had asked that members of all District Court Bar Associations physically boycott working in the court at Delhi on Monday 18 May 2026 and called on them to provide full support to preserve the dignity of the profession.

High Court Steps In With Immediate Transfer
The Delhi High Court had to act swiftly in an attempt to suppress the repercussions. On the same date, 17th May, 2026 the High Court of Delhi made an official transfer order. They, acting on the Chief Justice and other judges of the court, decided to immediately transfer Mr. Rakesh Kumar-V out of his post from Rohini courts.
