Justice Trivedi’s Ruling on Default Bail in Rajeev Sharma Case: When 60 Days Are Enough

Under Section 167(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Supreme Court has decided that when there is no minimum punishment stipulated for an offense, the only punishment that applies is sixty days of detention without charges. An Official Secrets Act case was brought before the court, and the court upheld Rajeev Sharma’s default bail.
