The Israeli-Iran war has started with a clear huge victory for Israel. Much of the Western world is shouting hurrah for the Israelis ( as it did in the 6 day war of 1967 ). Many nuclear sites in Iran have been destroyed, many nuclear scientists and top army commanders of Iran killed, and the Radio-TV centre in Tehran attacked.
Now it is easy to start a war. But it is very difficult to predict its outcome. Napoleon and Hitler had invaded Russia, expecting quick victories, but the wars dragged on, ultimately ending in the invaders’ total defeat.
Iran is not Gaza. The latter is a small strip of land with a population of 2.1 million people, and area 141 square miles ( 365 square kilometres )..

On the other hand, Iran has a population of over 90 million people, and area 636,372 square miles (1,648,195 square kilometers), making it the 17th largest country in the world by landmass.
Israel beat the hell out of tiny Gaza. But if Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders think they can do the same with a huge country like Iran, they have another thing coming.
There are two powerful alliances in the world today (1) the USA-Europe alliance, and (2) the China-Russia alliance. These two alliances are hostile to each other, but presently they do not militarily fight each other directly, as both have nuclear weapons, and a nuclear war would result in mutual destruction. So they fight each other through their proxies
Israel is a protege of USA, while Iran is a protege of the China-Russia axis. By striking such a powerful blow on Iran, definitely in cooperation and full knowledge and support of the Americans ( despite what US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated ), the Israelis have given a hard slap on the faces of the Chinese and Russians. Will the latter take this lying low ? Will they not lose face in the world and revealed as weaklings who cannot protect their protege ? Who then will ally with them ? No, they are powerful countries, and will definitely retaliate, and this retaliation will take the form of supplies of latest weapons ( like latest jet aircraft and missiles ) and other things ( including intelligence ) which Iran may require, as was supplied by the Chinese and Russians to the North Vietnamese in its war against America, from 1954 to 1975.
The recent 4 day indo-Pak war demonstrated the superiority of Chinese jets and missiles over European ones. This means China has forged ahead of Europe in industrialization, for it is only advanced modern industry which can produce advanced modern weapons.
Chinese leaders have openly condemned the Israeli attack
US President Trump has call for unconditional surrender by Iran, and told Iranians to leave Tehran.

But which self respecting nation would accept such a demand ? And where can the 10 million people living in Tehran go ?
As if in response, an Iranian army commander has asked Israelis living in Tel Aviv and Haifa to leave these cities
Iran is fighting back
The much acclaimed Israeli Iron Dome has proved to be a paper tiger, and has been breached.

Ayatollah Khameinei, the Supreme Leader of Iran has refused to surrender
Some of Iran’s nuclear sites are deep underground, and are still unharmed. So the war is unlikely to end soon, as US Gen Jack Keane ( retd ) said, since Israeli objectives have only been partially attained. Also, US direct intervention cannot be ruled out.
The situation is becoming murkier and murkier, and is going out of control. No one can predict how long will the war last, or in what way will it end. The region seems to be in for the long haul
One can only hope and pray that it does not end in a nuclear war
