PhD researchers working in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Law are invited to submit papers for the JURIX 2026 Doctoral Consortium, which will take place on 8 December 2026 in Toulouse, France.
The Doctoral Consortium is intended to provide a platform for early-stage and emerging researchers to present their doctoral research, receive feedback from experienced scholars and engage with members of the international AI and Law research community.
Opportunity for PhD Researchers
The JURIX 2026 Doctoral Consortium will give participating researchers an opportunity to discuss their PhD research with leading scholars and experts working across Artificial Intelligence, Law and Legal Information Systems.
Participants will be able to receive feedback and advice on their research and take part in discussions with researchers working in related areas. The programme will also include a face-to-face mentoring discussion with an international senior scholar, giving doctoral researchers an opportunity to discuss both research and career-related questions.
The consortium is designed to encourage interaction between PhD researchers and established members of the international AI and Law community.
Areas of Research
Submissions are welcomed on a broad range of topics within Artificial Intelligence and Law.
The listed areas include legal reasoning, covering research into computational and technology-assisted approaches to legal reasoning.
Researchers working on legal knowledge representation and knowledge graphs are also invited to submit their work.
The call further covers machine learning, large language models and natural language processing for law, reflecting the growing use of AI-based systems in legal research and practice.
Other areas include legal analytics, information extraction and data mining, as well as explainable AI and legal design.
Researchers whose doctoral work falls within these or related areas of AI and Law are encouraged to consider submitting their research for consideration.
Feedback and Mentoring
A central feature of the Doctoral Consortium is the opportunity for participants to receive detailed feedback on their ongoing PhD research.
The event will allow researchers to present their work and obtain advice from experienced academics and experts. Participants will also have an opportunity to meet researchers working across different areas of AI, Law and Legal Information Systems.
The face-to-face mentoring component will provide an additional opportunity for doctoral researchers to engage directly with an international senior scholar and discuss research and career-related matters.
Best Paper Awards
The Doctoral Consortium will also feature a Best Paper Award and a Runner-Up Award.
According to the announcement, the awards are supported by OASIS and will recognise outstanding submissions presented as part of the Doctoral Consortium.
