Vijay Shah Controversy: Supreme Court Constitutes Special Investigation Team to Probe FIR, Stays Arrest

The Starting Point

When Kunwar Vijay Shah, the Minister of Tribal Affairs for the state of Madhya Pradesh, made comments that were intended at Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, an officer in the Indian Army, in May of 2025, he found himself entangled in a big controversy. The Intervention of the Supreme Court

A Special Investigation Team consisting of three individuals was established by the Supreme Court on May 19, 2025, in order to investigate the First Information Report (FIR) that was filed against Shah. A senior Indian Police Service officer from outside of Madhya Pradesh is a member of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to maintain impartiality. At the same time, the court ordered Shah to provide complete cooperation with the investigation.
