The Supreme Court of India has declared that law graduates stand a chance of being employed on a contractual basis. The Court is seeking applications for the following vacancies under Consultant (Research) and Research Assistants, and it provides an opportunity to work in the Supreme Court of the country. This measure is meant to introduce qualified legal practitioners who are working within the country only on a temporary basis.
Who May Apply?
The notification invites Indian citizens with a LLB Degree from a recognized university up to June 29, 2025. The two jobs are age limited to 35 years.

Consultant (research) Role
For the position of Consultant (Research), the Supreme Court wants individuals with a legal background and a superb ability at writing. ImportantLY, candidates are expected to possess at least one-year’s experience in research in a related field. There is a requirement to be conversant with IT skills such as data analysis, the use of Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations among others. Also, applicants are required to have excellent legal skills and the ability to use legal databases and information websites to research. The salary package being offered under this post consists of a consolidated pay and salary of Rs. 1, 25, 000 p.m.
Research Assistant Chance
An LLB Degree from a recognized university is also a qualification needed for a research assistant position. More than that, applicants are expected to publish some works such as a book, a dissertation or a thesis. As in the case of the Consultant position, it requires good writing skills and one year or more research experience in a comparable role and good IT skills (data analysis, Excel, PowerPoint). Legal research skills, including knowledge of law databases and information websites, are also a major requirement. The Research Assistants will be remunerated 80, 000 per month consolidated and raised to 90, 000 per month after a year.
The process of selection: resume and interaction
Both positions will be chosen by reviewing resumes and the subsequent interaction (interview). All those short listed, three times the number of available vacancies will be invited to participate in this interaction. It is necessary to mention that there will be no receipt of travelling or daily allowance when appearing at the interview / interaction.

Interested and eligible people should apply offline by sending their applications and resumes, as well as other supporting documents, in one PDF file. The package of the application is to be sent to the email address recruitment.cell@sci.nic.in and the name of the email must show in the subject heading as an application for Consultant (Research)/Research Assistant. The submission deadline is set for June 29, 2025. Provided a candidate has an interest in applying to two jobs, a separate application will have to be made in each category.
The commitment to understanding
These are contract assignments and the Supreme Court has clarified this. The selected will be expected to go to work even at odd hours and work on holidays when work will require them to go. Moreover, once the contractual assignment is done – it can be brought to an end anytime without prior notice or reason.
Both jobs have a first one-year contract that can be renewed for one more year. The extension of Consultants will be to interaction, whereas that of Research Assistants will be to published papers and interaction.
This hiring exercise by the Supreme Court of India underlines the fact that the Court is always keen to beef up its research assets through the infusion of able legal talent.
Additional Information for Applicants (found on the basis of the Application Form)
The Supreme Court has an application form where all applicants have to provide their information. This will entail personal particulars which will include name, father, date of birth, permanent address, correspondence address, phone number/mobile number and e-mail address.
The educational qualification of the applicants with the details of the examination, name of the college/university, marks percentage obtained and year will also be submitted. Copies of certificates to be produced for self-verification need to be attached. Work experience even before should be outlined as well.
A resume is essential and prospective employees must check its inclusion. The application form should be attached with a self-attested recent passport size photograph. Lastly, the applicants will have to agree that the information they give will be valid to the best of their knowledge and belief, as they are aware that false or inaccurate information will trigger the rejection of their application. The candidate should sign and date the application.
