The prevarication and mendacity of Ayesha Jalal By Justice Katju

In a recent interview by Uzair Bin Farid, a Pakistani student living in Boston, she strongly criticized me, calling me a person with very far fetched ideas, who lives in the air and needs to come down to the ground ( see from 15 minutes 8 seconds of the interview ).

She said, putting words in my mouth, that I said that Pakistan does not even exist. This is a typical technique of people who wish to defeat the argument of an opponent by totally twisting and distorting it, and then seeking to refute it.

I never said Pakistan does not exist. What I have repeatedly said is that the Partition of India in 1947 and creation of an Islamic state called Pakistan, was a British swindle on the basis of the bogus 2 nation theory, that Hindus and Muslims are two separate nations who cannot live in peace together. The purpose of Partition was that Hindus and Muslims should remain hostile to each other so that united India does not emerge as a modern industrial giant, like China, ( for which it has all the potential ), and thus become a big rival to Western industry. I have also said that Pakistan is a fake, artificial country, like Israel, and is really part of India to which it will certainly be reunited one day under modern minded leaders

What is Pakistan ? It is Punjab, Sind, Balochistan, and KP. These were all part of India for 500 years since the time of Moghul Emperor Akbar. We are really one nation, sharing the same culture, we look like each other, and large parts of our subcontinent speak the same language Hindustani ( called Hindi in India and Urdu in Pakistan ).

But this is totally contrary to the truth. Jinnah as head of the Muslim League moved the Lahore Resolution in 1940 demanding Partition.

Thereafter Jinnah, in speech after speech, relentlessly advocated the bogus two nation theory (that Hindus and Muslims are two separate nations) and the mischievous British policy of divide and rule which resulted in Partition of India in 1947 with all its horrors. It is estimated that as a result of Partition 10 lac Hindus and Muslims were brutally killed and many millions uprooted and driven out of their native places. Was Jinnah ever distressed by the terrible unhappiness which was caused as a direct result of his actions ? Not at all. All that he wanted was to satisfy his ambition to become Qaid-e-Azam and head of the fake, artificial country called Pakistan, which was the goal of the British whose loyal stooge he was, and the sole aim of creating which was to keep Hindus and Muslims fighting with each other.

But Ayesha Jalal continues with her mendacity and dissimulation by supporting Jinnah who caused such misery to millions by relentlessly advocating Partition and the 2 nation theory, whose effects we are still suffering today.

 Many Pakistanis say that the oppression of Muslims in India proves that the two-nation theory was correct.  The truth is that it was precisely due to Partition of India in 1947 that Indian Muslims are in this plight.
