I had written the article below criticising Ayatollah Khomeini, Ayotallah Khameini, and other religious clerics of Iran as being reactionary village idiots, bigots, and ‘jaahils’, like the Taliban in Afghanistan, and Tehreek-e-Labbaik in Pakistan because of which Iran has suffered and been kept backward

Responding to it, a Muslim gentleman whatsapped me saying :

” Ayatollah has written numerous books, and studied in educational institutions for 25 years, yet you call him a jaahil ? ”

To which I replied :

” You said Ayatollah has 25 years education. But what kind of education ? He has not got modern scientific education, but theological education which makes one a jaahil, because all religions are unscientific superstitions, humbug and jahaalat. Theological education, like that imparted in madarsas or saraswati shishu mandirs fill a child’s mind with irrational nonsense, idiocy, bunkum, hokum pokum, balderdash, baloney, twaddle, drivel, poppycock, flim flam, rigmarole and malarkey, ( such as believing that in ancient India we had atom bombs, guided missiles and aeroplanes, knowledge of head transplant surgery and genetic engineering , stem cell therapy, etc ), 

You say he has written many books. But what kind of books ? They would all be religious treatises following the Quran. How has that contributed to scientific advance and prosperity for the people ? On the contrary, they would have contributed to keeping men’s minds shackled, and confined to the Middle Ages.

Religion and science are poles apart, as explained in the article below. While religion is based on blind faith, science is based on reason, observation and experiment. All religions are superstitions, the truth lies in science, which is never final, but constantly developing.

One basic difference between science and religion is that while in science all theories are subject to alteration/modification, or even rejection, by subsequent discoveries, what is written in the Veda, the Quran or the Bible is final, and cannot be altered.

I may give an illustration.

In the Quran 4.34, Sura an Nisa says ” If your wife is disobedient or disloyal, remind her of the teachings of God. If she persists, then refuse to go to bed with her. If she still persists, then hit her. But if she again becomes loyal and obedient, proceed no further. Allah is Great ”I told a Muslim friend that this permission to husbands to beat their wives if they are disobedient should be deleted from the Quran, as it was unacceptable today. He conveyed my words to his wife, who said ” I dont mind if you beat me, since the Quran has permitted it, but nothing can be deleted from the Quran, because it is the word of God ”. Now what can one say to that ?Christianity and Islam believe in Creationism, i.e. that God created the universe in 6 days, whereas after Darwin’s book ‘The Origin of the Species’ scientists have started believing in Evolution. If it is said that everything must have a Creator, then logically that Creator,too, must have a Creator, i.e. a super Creator, and that super Creator too must have a Creator, i.e. a super, super Creator, and so on. This is known as the fallacy of the infinite regress.Religion says that there is a supernatural entity called God ( or Allah or Bhagwan ) which is immortal, all powerful, and all good. But if God is all powerful and all good, why do millions of children in the world, who have done no harm to anyone, suffer by poverty, hunger, cold and homelessness, as the great Russian writer Dostoevsky asked in his famous novel ‘Brothers Karamazov’ ?

Science does not believe in any supernatural entitities. It believes that the only real entity is matter ( or rather matter-energy, for they are two forms of the same substance, as Einstein proved by his formula e=mc2 ), but matter is not stationary but in motion, according to some laws, which can be discovered by scientific research. Some people ask where did matter come from ? The answer is that matter came from matter. In other words, it always existed, though in different forms.Religious leaders, like Ayatollahs in Iran, are a curse to society and the country, as they keep it backward and unscientific, and therefore in a state of jahaalat
