KLE Law College, Bengaluru, a constituent college of KLE Technological University, Hubballi, has invited submissions for KLE-JUSTECH 2027, the First International Conference on the Future of Justice: Crime, Constitution and Technology.
The conference will be held on 22 and 23 January 2027 in Bengaluru, India, and will be organised in a hybrid mode, allowing participants to attend either in person or online.
About the Conference
KLE-JUSTECH 2027 will examine the changing relationship between law, justice and emerging technologies. The conference will bring together scholars, judges, legal practitioners, policymakers, technologists and research students to discuss the ways in which technology is influencing criminal justice, constitutional rights and the wider justice system.
The conference will focus on emerging legal and constitutional questions created by technological developments, with discussions organised across eight thematic tracks.
Thematic Tracks
The first track will focus on Policing, Surveillance and the Investigative State, examining the growing use of technology in policing, surveillance and investigation.
The second track, Privacy as a Constitutional Guarantee, will explore constitutional questions surrounding privacy and the use of technology by public authorities and other actors.
The conference will also address Digital Evidence and Forensics, with attention to the increasing importance of electronically generated and digitally stored evidence in criminal investigations and court proceedings.
Another thematic area is Algorithms in Bail, Sentencing and Adjudication. This track will consider the growing use of algorithmic systems in different stages of the justice process.
The fifth track will examine Cybercrime and Criminal Liability, focusing on legal questions arising from criminal activities involving digital technologies and cyberspace.
The conference will further explore Constitutional Rights and Digital Speech, addressing questions concerning fundamental rights and expression in digital environments.
The seventh track, Judicial and Legislative Capacity, will consider the ability of courts and legislatures to respond to technological changes and the new legal issues they create.
The final track will cover Data Protection, Cross-Border Cooperation and Emerging Frontiers, bringing together questions concerning data regulation, international cooperation and developing technological challenges.
Who Can Submit Papers?
The call is open to a wide range of participants, including academics, judges, practitioners, policymakers, technologists and research students.
Researchers working on legal, constitutional, criminal justice, technology and interdisciplinary questions related to the conference themes are invited to consider submitting their work.
Publication Opportunity
Selected papers will be considered for publication in the conference proceedings through the conference’s publication partner, Atlantis Press, part of Springer Nature.
The selected papers are proposed to be submitted for indexing in Scopus and Web of Science (CPCI). Publication and indexing will remain subject to the applicable peer review process and publisher acceptance.
