It is an academic post and the eligibility conditions are announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC). All it takes is a Masters Degree in Law that is the LL.M. degree. The candidates should have earned a minimum of 55 percent in their master degree curriculum in an Indian or foreign university.
Besides the Master degree, the applicants have to pass the National Eligibility Test (NET). The NET is a compulsory country-wide test which is administered by the UGC to assess the suitability of candidates to take up assistant professorship in Indian universities. The NET requirement has one big exception. In case of a candidate with a Ph.D. in Law, he/she can be dispensed of the requirement of having a NET certificate.
