Recently a lady lawyer asked me on fb for some tips how to argue in Court. I humorously replied ” Judge ko aankh maar do ”.
Later, again as a joke, I said on fb ” Lady lawyers who winked at me got favourable orders ”.

Little did I know that lady lawyers in the Supreme Court were so touchy, and would get so riled up at my remark, made in lighter vein. The SCWLA ( Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association ) held a meeting and passed a resolution demanding my apology,

I promptly gave the apology, thinking that discretion is the better part of valour.

But when I went recently to Chennai, and met many lady lawyers in the Madras High Court, they said they enjoyed my winking remark, and were not upset over it. Evidently Tamilian ladies have a more developed sense of humour than their north Indian sisters

I have now invited the President, Secretary and some other SCWLA members to have tea with me at my flat. The Secretary, Prerana Singh, said she will come with some jalebis, which I love.
So all is well which ends well
