Xavier Law School, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, in collaboration with Science City, Kolkata, and distinguished national and international academic institutions, has invited original research papers for the 2nd International Human Rights Conference 2027.
The conference will be organised around the theme “Decolonising Human Rights: Towards Pluriversality” and will bring together researchers from Law, Humanities and Social Sciences. The conference will examine contemporary questions relating to human rights, decolonisation, social justice, international law, indigenous rights, climate action, technology and governance.
About the International Human Rights Conference 2027
The conference aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for examining different approaches to human rights and the changing global legal and social landscape. Particular attention will be given to questions concerning decolonisation and the perspectives of communities and regions that have historically been underrepresented in dominant human rights discourse.
Researchers may explore issues relating to international law, indigenous rights, climate action, technological developments, governance, social justice and the Global South. The organisers are inviting original research that contributes to discussions on human rights and the idea of pluriversality.
Call for Papers
The Call for Papers is open to researchers working across Law, Humanities and Social Sciences. The interdisciplinary nature of the conference allows contributors to examine human rights questions from legal, social, historical, political and other academic perspectives.
Researchers interested in submitting a paper should prepare their abstract in accordance with the submission guidelines provided by the organisers. Abstracts are required to be submitted by 31 October 2026.
The notification of acceptance is scheduled for 10 November 2026. Authors whose abstracts are accepted will then proceed through the registration and paper submission stages.
Important Dates
The early bird registration period will be open from 12 to 30 November 2026, followed by the opening of standard registration on 1 December 2026. The first draft of the paper is scheduled to be submitted by 20 December 2026.
Registration will close on 10 January 2027, while the final full paper submission deadline is 15 January 2027. Contributors should follow the official conference guidelines for formatting, submission and other requirements.
Conference Date and Submission Details
The 2nd International Human Rights Conference 2027 will take place on 21 and 22 January 2027 in a hybrid mode, allowing participation through both physical and online formats.
