About the Corporate Lawyer Position

Althea & Jacobs advises local and international clients on a range of corporate, commercial and transactional matters. The firm is looking for a motivated lawyer who can contribute to its growing practice and assist with matters involving contracts, corporate structures and business transactions.

The position involves working closely with senior lawyers and partners while also handling client interactions and taking responsibility for assigned matters. Candidates should have a strong understanding of corporate and commercial law and practical experience in company restructuring.

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected Corporate Lawyer will draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, including shareholder agreements, joint venture agreements, service and supply agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. The role will also involve advising on corporate restructuring, including reorganisations, mergers, share and asset transfers, and changes in ownership or business structure.

Other responsibilities include preparing and reviewing board and shareholder resolutions, articles of association and regulatory filings. The candidate will also conduct legal due diligence, prepare summary reports, research legal issues and draft clear advice notes for clients.

The role further requires coordination with clients, regulators and other professional advisers. Strong drafting skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines will be important for handling the firm’s corporate and commercial matters.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should have an LL.B. degree or an equivalent law qualification and 2 to 3 years of post-qualification experience in corporate or commercial law. Experience gained in a law firm or an in-house legal team may be relevant, provided the candidate meets the role’s practical requirements.

Candidates must demonstrate strong contract drafting and review skills, along with hands-on experience in company restructuring. Excellent written and spoken English is required, while Arabic language skills may be an advantage.

Applicants should also possess sound commercial judgment, organisational abilities and the capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively. Candidates must meet the applicable admission or eligibility requirements to practise in the relevant jurisdiction.
