DAKSH is inviting applications for the position of Research Associate to join its Commercial Dispute Resolution team in Delhi. The role will involve legal research, empirical analysis and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on commercial courts, arbitral institutions and specialised tribunals in India.

The position is suitable for candidates with professional experience in litigation, arbitration, policy research or related areas who are interested in working on legal and institutional reforms. The selected candidate will contribute to research examining the functioning of India’s commercial dispute resolution institutions.

About the Role

The Research Associate will work on projects involving commercial courts, arbitral institutions and specialised adjudicatory bodies in India. The role combines traditional legal research with empirical analysis and engagement with relevant stakeholders.

The work is intended to go beyond theoretical research and contribute to institutional and policy reform. Candidates may therefore be required to examine court and tribunal data, identify institutional challenges and contribute to research outputs that can inform improvements in India’s dispute resolution system.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Applicants should have 3 to 4 years of relevant professional experience in litigation, arbitration, policy research or a related field. Candidates must hold an LLB or LLM degree and should have knowledge of tribunals and specialised adjudicatory bodies operating in India.

Applicants should also have a strong grounding in corporate law and financial regulation, particularly areas such as insolvency, securities regulation and competition law. Strong legal research, writing and project management skills are also required.

The position additionally requires excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Candidates should be comfortable working with court and tribunal data and undertaking empirical analysis as part of their research responsibilities.
