Vishwajit Rane’s Conduct at GMCH: Potential Violations of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023

The episode that occurred on June 7, 2025, when the Minister of Health for the state of Goa, Vishwajit Rane, publicly reprimanded and removed Dr. Rudresh Kuttikar from his position at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), is the subject of this article. The purpose of this article is to investigate the ways in which his acts may violate the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, namely the portions that pertain to the abuse of authority, obstruction of public officials, and criminal intimidation.

Justice Nagarathna’s Ruling on Police Abuse and Legal Protection in G.C. Manjunath Case

It was made clear by the Supreme Court that public servants cannot be prosecuted without first receiving prior government authorization if their conduct are reasonably connected to their official duties. Invoking the legislative protections provided by the Criminal Procedure Code and the Police Act, it dismissed the proceedings against retired police personnel.
