The most ill starred is the man who cannot see his own country

I regard India and Pakistan ( and Bangladesh ) as one country, divided in 1947 by a British swindle called Partition, on the basis of the bogus 2 nation theory, to ensure that united India does not emerge as a modern industrial giant, like another China ( for which it has all the potential ), and thus, with its cheap labour, become a big rival to Western industry.

I curse Jinnah for relentlessly advocating partition, and I curse the then Congress leaders for agreeing to it, in order to enjoy the fruits of office.

What is Pakistan ? It is Punjab, Sind, Balochistan, and KP ( formerly NWFP ). These were all part of India for over 500 years, since the time of Mughal Emperor Akbar. We look like each other, share the same culture ( e.g. love of Urdu poetry, Hindustani classical music, food like biriyani, etc ), speak the same language Hindustani in large parts ( called Hindi in India and Urdu in Pakistan ), etc. When Indians and Pakistanis meet abroad they socially intermix as if no Partition had taken place. I have many Pakistani friends with whom I talk regularly on whatsapp, and feel no different from them.

Since I regard Pakistan as part of India ( to which, I am sure, it will one day be reunited under a secular government ) I should have the right to visit it, see the beautiful and historical places there, and meet the wonderful people there ( whom I regard as Indians ). Does one not have the right to see his own country and meet his own countrymen ?

But I know I will never be able to go to Pakistan, firstly because following the Pahalgam attack and consequential Operation Sindoor, the Pakistan government decided not to grant visas to Indian citizens and revoked existing visas.

Secondly, the Pakistani government will never give me a visa since I have repeatedly said that Pakistan is a fake, artificial country, and is really part of India, from  which it was separated by a British fraud, but to which it will one day inevitably be reunited.

As I told my friend Haider Raza who interviewed me in California ( see link above ), I will go to Pakistan only if I am given freedom to speak freely and express my views openly. And if I am given that freedom, the day I land in Pakistan I will start saying that Pakistan is a fake, artificial country, and is part of India, to which it will one day be definitely reunited under a secular government.

So that effectively debars me from seeing my own country, and meeting my own countrymen.

I am reminded of these lines from Walter Scott’s poem ‘My Native Land’ :

” Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,

Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land ! ”

Can  there be anyone more disconsolate, hapless, unfortunate, and ill-starred than me ?
