Key Responsibilities

The Research Associate will assist with data collection, analysis and reporting and will provide technical support for smooth project implementation.

The role will involve conducting research and preparing technical documents, reports, presentations and publications based on project findings. The selected candidate will also assist in tracking project activities and coordinate with the NPMU, State Project Steering Committee, UNDP and MoEFCC.

The candidate will also participate in project meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, coordinate with technical agencies and government and non-government organisations, and provide logistical support for workshops and meetings.

Other responsibilities include supporting annual progress reports, donor reports, project reviews, financial and audit reports, contributing to communication strategies and providing technical, administrative and operational assistance during project implementation.

Eligibility

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Forestry, Statistics or another related subject.

The position requires at least three years of relevant experience. Candidates must also be nationals, legal residents or hold refugee status in the country of assignment.

Applicants must have fluent English and working knowledge of Hindi.

Skills and Experience

Candidates should have at least three years of experience in research, documentation or related areas.

Experience in climate change adaptation and mitigation, agriculture, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem and land restoration will be an added advantage.

Strong analytical, research, writing, drafting, reporting, coordination and communication skills are required. Candidates should also be comfortable working with government bodies, development partners, communities and other stakeholders.

The role also requires computer literacy, including proficiency in applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, along with familiarity with databases and office technology.

Remuneration and Benefits

The assignment provides a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of INR 70,158.41.

In addition, the selected candidate will receive a one-time entry lump sum of USD 350, while relocation costs of USD 175 may be provided at the beginning and end of the assignment where the duty station is outside commuting distance as determined by UNV.

An exit allowance of USD 120 for each month served is also provided upon successful completion of the contract.

The assignment also includes comprehensive insurance coverage for health, life and malicious acts, annual leave of 2.5 days per month, and access to UN Volunteers’ learning and career development resources.
