The June 2 Vandalism Incident

The controversy started late in the night of 2 June 2026 at Khan Global Studies (KGS) institute at Musallahpur Hat in Patna.

The Attack: Around 15-20 people went to the KGS offices and ripped down banners, threw rocks and vandalized the building.
Injuries: Chun Chun, a security guard at the institute, was badly beaten and had a head wound in the chaos.
Initial Action: Khan Sir had filed an FIR following the incident accusing “anti-social elements” who were connected with a rival business of trying to threaten his institute. This resulted in the arrest of three people related to the other Gyan Bindu Coaching Institute, along with the director, Raushan Anand

Khan first said that the attack was in retaliation for his “low cost, high quality” lessons to students. But it was quickly reversed the next few days.

Viral Video and the Guards’ Confessions

The video started circulating on social media soon after the vandalism, allegedly showing private security guards outside the KGS centre firing into the air. At first, police said CCTV footage didn’t show any gunshots, but later they brought two of Khan’s guards in for questioning.

The arrested guards—Pradeep Kumar from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, and Talebar Singh from Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh—worked for a security agency in Noida. During interrogation, the guards made an astounding confession, according to a written complaint by the Kadamkuan police station’s officers.

They claimed they shot two bullets from their authorized rifles, only on his orders, Faisal Khan. Khan allegedly told the guards: “What are you looking at, shoot at the crowd immediately, I will handle whatever happens.

Serious Legal Charges

From these testimonies, the Patna Police could expand the scope of the investigation and file a fresh FIR on June 4 with the direct inclusion of the famed educator. The charges brought against Khan Sir, two guards and unspecified accomplices are:

Section 109 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) is related to attempted murder and abetment. This section imposes a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment, and Khan may be liable for any such actions if it is established in court that he actually gave the order to fire.
The Arms Act: Sections 25(9), 27 and 35 – these refer to the use, display and discharge of firearms that cause fear and panic in the community and are carried out negligently.

On June 6, 2026, Khan Sir went to the Patna Civil Court to seek anticipatory bail while police forces were deployed heavily around the coaching institute to deal with the huge crowd of concerned students. His lawyers have said the charges are part of a scheme of conspiracy being run by a rival coaching director.

The Broader Impact: Coaching Rivalries

This incident has shed light on the cut-throat rivalry in Patna’s flourishing coaching ecosystem.

Khan said that he was targeted by his competitors, however, representatives of the rival Gyan Bindu institute held a press conference claiming that Khan was responsible for this vandalism and firing himself to create a publicity stunt against them.

The government is intervening, given the increasing level of violence. The disruptions to law and order in the state are being caused by the commercial rivalry among coaching institutes and to reduce it the State Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari said that the government is working on a stringent policy in the next three months.

The investigation is ongoing with police asking students to stay calm and not give into the rivalry of their educational institutions, and promising a comprehensive and unbiased investigation into the events of June 2.
