The Imperial Policy Forum has opened applications for its 2027 AI Policy Fellowship Programme, a learning and development opportunity for senior civil and public servants working on policy design, policy delivery and AI-related strategy.
The fellowship will run from January to October 2027 and will combine in-person and online participation. The application deadline is November 2, 2026.
About the AI Policy Fellowship
The AI Policy Fellowship is designed to enable policymakers to engage with researchers at Imperial College London and examine an AI-related policy challenge in greater depth.
Fellows will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of important AI-related issues, establish connections with academic experts and fellow policymakers, and develop ideas that may contribute to policymaking.
The programme will cover areas including AI foundations, AI security, infrastructure, applications and evaluation, among other topics.
Who Can Apply?
The programme is intended for senior civil servants and public servants who are responsible for policy design or delivery in areas affected by artificial intelligence, or who are responsible for AI policy and strategy within their department.
The Imperial Policy Forum is particularly interested in applicants working at the intersection of AI and areas such as healthcare, engineering biology, space science, engineering and cyber security. However, the fellowship is open to policymakers working across other fields affected by AI.
Applicants should therefore have a professional role that allows them to engage meaningfully with questions surrounding AI policy, regulation, implementation or strategy.
Programme Structure and Time Commitment
The fellowship will require approximately 6 to 8 hours per month. This includes four in-person days at Imperial during the programme year.
In addition to the four in-person days, fellows will participate in a welcome evening at the end of January 2027. The programme will otherwise combine in-person and online engagement between January and October 2027.
The structure is intended to provide fellows with opportunities to learn from researchers while continuing their professional responsibilities.

Interested applicants are required to visit the Imperial Policy Forum website, download and complete the application form and submit it by email.
