UPPSC APO
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has advertised that it is recruiting 182 Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO) jobs. It is an immense opportunity to people of law background. The application on-line form (to these posts) will start on September 16, 2025, and the fee should be paid and the application should be received in time until October 16, 2025.
The recruitment criteria of this recruitment are simple. You have to possess a Bachelor of law (LLB) degree at a Bar Council of India recognized university. Also, you must be aged between 21 and 40 years on July 1, 2025, and age relaxation would be allowed to reserved categories as per government regulations.
The application fee is 125 existing applicants belonging to General, OBC and EWS, whereas it is 65 among SC/ST and 25 among PwD applicants. The selection process is a multi-stage process that is aimed at identifying the best candidates. It starts with a preliminary examination, then a main written exam, personal interview and lastly, a medical examination.

Upon appointment, an APO may look forward to a salary ranging 47,600-151,100 a month which translates to Pay Level 8. Syllabus
The UPPSC APO exam syllabus consists of two major components the Preliminary Exam and the Main Exam. Applicants need to be ready to both because they are tested in various skills and knowledge. Preliminary examination is a screening examination and the marks obtained are not counted in the final merit.
In the case of the Preliminary Exam, the syllabus is divided into two parts. The former is the General Knowledge part which has a variety of subjects such as General Science, Indian History, Indian National Movement, Indian Politics and Economy, World Geography. Second section deals with Law and deals with four major topics which are: Indian Penal Code, Indian Evidence Act, Criminal Procedure Code and the U.P. Police Act with its regulations. This section of the test includes 100 questions and is therefore of critical focus.
The Main Exam is descriptive and it comprises of 400 marks. It is divided into four individual papers. The first is General Knowledge (100 marks) which is about national and international current affairs. The second one is General Hindi (100 marks) which is on high school standard. The third paper will be Criminal Law and Procedure (100 marks), and the fourth one will be the Law of Evidence (100 marks), and both will contain questions of a law degree level.
The last is the interview that has 50 marks. This plays a very important role in final selection. The interview panel will also evaluate your personality and character, communication skills and overall knowledge and physical fitness. The scoring of the main examination and the interview are added together to guarantee the ultimate ranking.
